I recently decided to pick up a second job for the holiday season at one of my favorite places: Sephora! Sephora is known for carrying high end, exclusive brands in the worlds of makeup, skincare, and fragrance. I have been shopping at Sephora for years, but I'll be honest one of the best parts about being employed there is definitely the discount! Sephora employees receive 40% off all Sephora brand products and 20% off everything else (because it's holiday, employees receive 30% off all other brands for a few weeks in November!). Now, if you're an avid Sephora shopper then you know Sephora only runs about 2-3 sales a year, and those are typically exclusively for their VIB Rouge and VIB shoppers. So, if you love Sephora and you're looking for a seasonal job, I definitely recommend applying at your local Sephora! I mean, if you're going to shop there anyway, might as well save a little money in the process! :)
Since I started working at Sephora in October, I haven't done too much damage. But I have managed to pick up a few things, so I decided I would share them with you all. Most of these are products I have been wanting to try for a while, that I just haven't gotten around to buying. Like the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer. This concealer has been widely regarded as the best concealer on the market. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and I have to say I really do love it. It's thick, but not too thick, and blends out wonderfully. I purchased mine in the shade Caramel, which is one shade lighter than my actual shade which is Amande. I did this intentionally because I knew I would want to use the concealer to highlight underneath my eyes and other areas of the face. I also received this Nars Lip Gloss as gratis (free products) when I did my on-boarding with Sephora. Which is another perk I should have mentioned, the gratis is BOMB!
I have been wanting to try the Make Up Forever Ultra HD for quite some time after hearing a lot of my favorite YouTuber's talk about how amazing it was. One of the biggest incentives to finally buy it was that it was great for girls with combination oily skin, and I'm always looking for things that will help me combat the oil in my t-zone. I was color matched by one of my co-workers so that I could find the perfect shade, which is 177. This shade is amazing, and I love the fact that it's not orange based like a lot of foundations that are deeper in tone tend to be. This foundation gives medium to full coverage and lasts so long! Especially when combined with the Step 1 Skin Equalizer primers. Make Up Forever launched this line of primers earlier this year and I believe there are 10 different types so there's definitely a primer for everyone! I purchased the mattifying one (obviously!) and it has quickly become my favorite primer. When I tell you my makeup doesn't budge it does not budge! I've worn this foundation and primer for 8-9 hours straight and never noticed any oils coming through or fading. I am loving this combo right now.
As I stated earlier, Sephora employees receive 40% off all Sephora brand products. Which is INSANE! So I had to try out a few products. The Sephora Bright Set pressed finishing powder in the shade banana is definitely a great buy. The powder is so silky smooth to the touch and perfect for setting the under eye area. There is also a white/translucent version but I decided to go with the banana because I feel that those compliment my skin tone better where white ones can end up looking a little ashy. I think my favorite purchase from the Sephora brand has to be the luster matte lip color. It is everything! It is so pigmented and the lasting power is really great. I receive so many compliments whenever I wear this shade, which is perfect for the fall and winter time. I also picked up a lip balm just because I needed one and I saw that we had one in store. It's not anything amazing, but it definitely keeps my lips nice and hydrated.
I'm pretty sure I've talked about the Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray on this blog before. I ran out so I had to restock and pick up another one. It is hands down my favorite setting spray and I don't know if I'll ever find another one that I like as much. You could just say it's bae.
Last but not least, I have to admit that I kind of purchased this on a whim. I smelled this before at another store and thought it smelled so amazing! We don't sell this in the Sephora where I work but it was available online and we had a customer purchase it and then return it to our store. She never opened it or did anything so when I saw it I felt like I had to buy it. Plus with my 30% off, I felt like it was too good of a deal to pass up. I was in the market for a new fragrance anyway, so I'm really happy with the purchase. The scent is so fresh, a little sweet but also has a warmth to it that makes it great to wear in fall (all year long really). The notes featured in the perfume are:
- top notes: mandarin, pink water lily and star anise
- heart: tiare flower, golden gardenia and coconut water
- back notes: sheer amber, musk and Tahitian vanilla
Something about that mandarin, coconut water, and Tahitian vanilla is sooo good together!
So that is all for my Sephora haul! I hope you guys enjoyed this post. I know I've been M.I.A. for a few months now, I have just been super busy (and a little overwhelmed)! But don't worry, there will be more post coming soon!
xoxo!
